Thin Win - (Millettia pendula) - is a very durable, heavy, hard, dense Burmese wood that is from the same genus as Wenge, and is thus closely related to it. Has dark purplish-brown to chocolate brown heartwood , with very close and fine black veins. The sapwood is very distinct from the heartwood, and is buff or pale yellowish brown in color.
Used for carvings in Burma, also good for heavy construction due to strength. Tough on hand tools but works well with mahcine tools and takes a high polish. Weight at 14 percent moisture is 69 pounds per cubic foot.
